You know, it's kind of funny. I rant and yell about censorship and yet, we have it right here on the Quadsville. If you leave a comment on someones blog, and they don't like it, it's gone before anyone else knows. It's happened to me on a certain someones blog more than once and I've noticed that it's happened on a few others also. The funny thing is, people put this crap out to give their opinion, expecting some back, but then, if they don't agree, OH WELL. Myself, if I leave a blog, it's OPEN to anyone, anytime, anywhere. I WANT to hear the pros and cons and I WANT everyone else to see it too. People, If your going to build a glass house to hide in, stay in it and DON'T come out. It's as simple as that.

After months of waiting and anticipation, the college football season kicks off Thursday night with a trifecta of games, and IOWA opens at Historic Kinnick Stadium Saturday morning against Eastern iLLinois. The Big Ten made a statement last bowl season against the other conferances, and hopefully will continue to make a statement during the out of confernce games that start the season. I'll be making a few games this year and will share the experiences as they happen but the biggest one will be a road trip planned for Oct. 2nd. Once again, this year I'll be making a trip to Kansas City to see some friends and fellow Hawkeye fans and we're going to a Hawkeye bar in Olathe, KS. called The Other Place, or OP for short. Last year we ended up in a Penn St. bar and barely made it out alive after the Hawkeye win. :-} Thursday August 12, 2010

and you can mark this Independant as being suitably impressed. Mark Riley held a meet and greet at Gunchies in the westend this evening to introduce himself as the GOP challenger against DEM Joe Seng. I expected the usual political yip-yap and a dapper dandy talking rhetoric, and instead, I got a 20 year retired Marine, working for the RR, talking common sense, and knowing the important issues that face the people of Davenport in the bigger picture as Iowans. Honestly, I haven't voted Republican since Bush I told me to "read his lips", and this guy won me over during the on again, off again talk we had for 2 hours. To set the record straight, he wasn't drinking, and I quit before 8:00pm because I was driving. Mark Riley made some very important points about the I-Jobs initiative, the smoking ban in businesses, and a few other things that I think would be best heard by him. Personally, I'm going to jump on the wagon and try and champion this guys cause. He's one of us, he's got the common sense I've been screaming about, and the most important, he's not some right-wing wack job pushing his agenda down peoples throats. People, we've got some SERIOUS issues that need to be resolved through our next election cycle. PLEASE, don't do that automatic Democrat or Republican pull of the handle until you LISTEN to ALL the candidates, or look at their past record as an elected official. Mark Riley will be needing to raise some funds and I intend to donate next month. I urge those of you that care, make an effort to meet him, and make your own evaluation. I think you'll be impressed. Now that the Sherrod saga has almost spun to an end, I need to know, does the conservative blogger (Breitbart) who perpetuates these things, get another pass, or do criminal charges follow? Freedom of Speech is just that, it is NOT a freedom to manipulate sentences, or edit film and soundbites into something "juicy." The man has no honor, no shame, and no sense of right. If criminal charges can't be brought forward, I'm sure the neo-con right will happily pay the millions Breitbart will lose in the coming civil lawsuit. The left and the right do enough stupid things that are newsworthy without these kind of shennanigans having to take place.

I read todays story about St. Ambrose and the athletic complex they would like to build by Assumption and was flabbergasted by the lady's comment that THEY want to build Club Med. I'm pretty sure that most universities have their own football stadium, have softball fields, and soccer fields. Most universities have places for their student athletes to park their cars, work out in a weight training center and even have a place for the trainers to treat them. WHY should St. Ambrose be any different? This complex not only makes St. Ambrose more affluent for student athletes, it shows that progress is alive and well in Davenport. The jobs alone make this worth doing, from the construction, all the way to game days.
