Retired factory hand and loyal union member deeply concerned about the direction our country has taken especially under the Bush administration but even before where the quality of life for working people as it relates to income relative to spending power is concerned. The loss of work out of the country, declining wages, militarism, lending practices, all these trouble me.
I worry about the world my generation is leaving for my grandson and your grandchildren.
I read and spend time with my dog. She and I are the best buddies.

March 16, 2010 Addictive personality has a biological basis in the brain. It's not an excuse for abusing drugs, but rather something to be aware of. These people react to the mood-altering experience of addictive substances in a manner that sets them up for problems. They can stioll decide not to abuse the substances. That's the decision this man must make, does he go cold turkey or does he continue risking his health, his life, the lives of others. He knows it.

March 15, 2010 I had hoped for one more season, thinking this group is ready to gel with the experience that comes with each year of action. The talent is there. Too bad. Best wishes to Coach Lickliter and family.

March 10, 2010 Alert - I didn't mean to post that! I was experimenting with ideas. I repeat, I didn't intend to post that, was expecting a verification code and an opportunity to cancel.

March 10, 2010 When people are hurt by a behavior and the morality of the behavior is in question, you'd almost have to have more information than the Bible gives us because the values, the mores were different. It was legal for Abraham to have relations with his slave - it was legal for him to have a slave - behaviors that are against the law now. I doubt Hagar was happy with the treatment she received. Abraham surely was aware of the unhappiness he was causing. If it wasn't immoral technically, it was mean.

March 10, 2010 It does look like the Reverend would take from Chet what he needs to beat Branstad. But you're assuming blacks vote with their eyes not their hearts and minds. We Democrats learned a lot from losses we owe to thrid-party candidates. Imagine if Nader hadn't taken from Bush . . .

March 10, 2010 My thanks to John for the explanation. I don't know about the morality of turtles. I helped one cross a road in Arkansas one time, and as we handed him through the car to safety, he voided on us. Is that any way to thank someone for kindness?

March 09, 2010 John - I'm not up on the Old Testament story of Abraham and his wives, or was the one a handmaid who bore him Ishmael? Please explain your reference to Abraham as it relates to Mr. Leach's reference to Abraham.

March 05, 2010 This is 'more like it.' However, with the thawing and the rain the ground will yield itself up to a dog's paws and the dog will track the muck into the house onto the carpet and over the tile. What a mess.
