The Clintons Deliver
Posted by: Rep. Phil Hare on August 28, 2008 at 3:54PM EST
Hillary and Bill Clinton took enormous steps toward uniting the Democratic Party with their phenomenal speeches the last two nights. Senator Clinton made her feelings crystal clear. She supports Senator Obama and will work every day to see him elected President. The issues she and her supporters care about-health care for all, energy independence, good paying jobs, and a commitment to our veterans--are all reasons to elect Senator Obama the next President of the United States. President Clinton spoke about his experience leading 8 years of peace and prosperity in the 1990's. He said in no uncertain terms that Senator Obama could have similar success and is ready to be President. Republicans and some of the pundits in the media will continue to exaggerate the divisions in our party. Democrats have always had a big tent. Our party is absolutely united in our support for Barack Obama. Both Hillary and Bill Clinton's speeches further solidified our solidarity. I am now heading to Invesco Field for Senator Obama's acceptance speech. It should be something special. I hope you get the chance to tune in.

"8 years of peace and prosperity in the 90s." You sure are a bold liar! What about the Clinton bombings of Iraq, Yugoslavia, Somalia? You call that peace?

I guess he means peace in comparison to a full blown invasion and occupation of 2 countries? I don't know. Still an outright lie, though.

Well, Red, you've got a point. Clinton was certainly a capitalist warmonger. Sad that he wasn't a more peaceful, benevolent man such as Comrade Stalin or Mao.

I'd agree Clinton was the best president we've had in my life time. I'd also like to say, in regards to vets, as a vet, having spoken recently to Viet nam vets and an army recruiter, we need to make sure any democrat is pushing as hard as yourself for decent medical care for Iraq vets. Medical care means a greater number of survivors of more grievous injuries. Make sure they get everything they can or their family can. Physical wounds are frequently more easy to deal with than brain injuries.
