Happy National Grammar Day!
Posted by: Mayor Melissa on March 4, 2009 at 3:25PM CST
That's right. Today is the day when sticklers unite to discuss the merits of the semicolon and diagram sentences. I just wanted to take a moment to salute my fellow English majors, copy editors and general grammarians. I'm even giving a nod to the obsessive souls who correct misspellings and poor punctuation in bathroom stall graffiti.
The Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar, or SPOGG, has compiled a Bad Grammar Hall of Fame playlist for your listening (dis)pleasure on this special holiday. I may have to listen to it tonight while I dust off my copy of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves."

I wasn't a English major, but love language and grammar. I aspire to be a writer. One of the favorite parts of my day at work is having the chance to correct the grammar of a co-worker who butchers the language with no remorse. This is really not something I'm supposed to do since it doesn't matter in the social services, but its obscene.
And I love "Eats, Shoots & Leaves"

Now that's what I are talking about. You and me, ought to talk more about it. :)

Thank gawd for Spell Checkers! We need a National Spell Checker Day! Or maybe even a month!
I came across as an idiot before those things were invented.

I'm outta here! :-b

Spell check is good but the wrong word spelled correctly gets through. Just no substitute for a careful second reading and third, when you really want to get it right.
