Question of the Day: What improvements would you like to see to Lindsay Park?
Posted by: Melissa C on September 30, 2009 at 4:29PM CST
The Lindsay Park Steering Committee met Tuesday night to work on the plan for improvements to the park in the Village of East Davenport. You can read the entire list of proposed improvements here, including signage, tree-trimming and other maintenance issues. Below are five of the major projects that have been suggested by the committee - some of them long-term and/or requiring a chunk of change. Of these major improvements, which would you like to see? You can vote for more than one project.

Some of the "Other" votes include: Small Dog Park; More flowers, more trees, reminders to pick up after your dog; Take some greenspace for parking...

Really a good idea to put up that foot bridge I think. I remember a death where a pedestrian was hit crossing River Drive for the Civil War re-enactment. On the other hand I've personally only had to park down by the river once to get to the village for the - Beaux Arts, was it? at the Park, anyway, lools like Camelot, lots of tents, eats, porta-potties - so maybe it isn't really needed. But on the OTHER hand what price a human life? IF folks use the bridge.

S'posed to be "looks like Camelot," not "lools" like Camelot.
They have added a neat stoplight that gives you a digital countdown showing the time left on your right to cross which is nice at Mound and River.

The accident you referred to was Carl...for whom the "run with Carl' event was named. It's now in Bettendorf at the Splash Landing and concert area.

Portapotties at the Channel Cat are an excellent idea!!! Who wants to go to the Yacht Club?

A foot bridge across River Drive? Not unless there's a good reason!!! Not with my tax money. We already built a foot bridge to nowhere and it's a liability.

I am in favor of taking greenspace from somewhere for parking. If we take the ball fields, that's a moneymaker for the bars during the summer. Granted, the parking space would support the bars on a regular basis, but there's Rudy's who shares a parking lot in the back with Bleyarts, and whatever will become of the Little Stone House. Lago's has only 5-6 slots, the lot on the north side of the alley behind the jewelry store is not for public parking,
and any other businesses that have lots are not open to the public, probably because of the liability of the bars.
I remember when Verizon wanted to pub com towers in Lindsay. These behemouths don't belong in Lindsay Park. I'm glad the citizens won.
Where are the busloads of senior citizens who used to walk in and out of the shops? The Village needs to have a turn-around. The clothing shop is a good start but it won't last. Nothing in that building has stood the test of time. Even the book store stayed long past it's time.
