Would anyone like to get this started with some things they have learned in life concerning common courtesy and getting along well with others?

RCIG, "Live and let live" works out real well for me.

Isnt do unto others as you would have others do unto you like....If you would like someone to open the door, pick up something you dropped, allow you into a lane of traffic..like you doing that back in return? Isnt that courtesy??

Respect those with whom you disagree, especially with regard to religion or politics.

Don't tug at Superman's cape.
Don't spit into the wind.
Don't pull the mask off the Lone Ranger,
and don't mess around with Slim.

Well, I learned early on, the better you get along with others, the more opportunities you have. Plus, I just feel better when I'm nice to someone, rather than bashing them . . .

I vote for John 3:16
It displays the total giving of ones self to help others!
It's really quite obvious....

....but of course, "Red Communist" type people won't get it.....
Communist's are the CRAZIEST peoples..... :-)

Red this is such a warm fuzzy side of you. I'm tickled. Really I think everyone assumes because of your screen name that you don't care what others think. Good idea.

My favorite is Robert Fulghum's "All I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten". It's so simple and we all knew this once, but most of us need to be reminded. At some point I'll post it to this blog.

Simply... "live well, love much, laugh often".

Unfortunatley it seems like common sense, common courtesy is found not to be so common after all. Particularly in traffic!

Daddy-O always told me "life is not fair", "dont get your honey where you make your money", "if you cant think about it over night then dont do it", "if it is too good to be true, it is" and "dont dish it if you cant take it..." smart man my father... should have listened to him more when he was alive... "stupid kids" :)

Thanks, Jenius, you beat me to it!
I find it helps to try to put myself in the other person's shoes, especially when someone is annoying me.
Also, remembering not to make assumptions about what is going on for another person, about why he/she is doing whatever, about motives I cannot possibly know about.
Also, because I used to volunteer at the information desk at the Art Institute of Chicago where we took all kinds of flack for things we had no control over like a particular painting not being on view: to direct my appropriate dismay, disappointment or anger to the right person, not spew at anyone who is handy.

I get along with many people who are different from me by simply not talking about the subjects we know we disagree on, and will never be solved. Otherwise if we discuss it over and over we could start to boil up inside.

I believe in a womon's right to chose what she does with her body and I have a friend who has a completely different opinion which I wholeheartedly disagree with. But to stay positive I focus on her good qualities. She is a very kind and generous person.
