Country news: No Alan Jackson
Posted by: David Burke on March 4, 2010 at 1:37PM CST

An Alan Jackson concert at Moline's i wireless Center in April announced on the singer's Web site last week isn't going to happen. iwC executive director Scott Mullen said yesterday he was surprised to see Moline's name on the list, since talks for the show have fallen through.

In other country news, Luke Bryan ("All My Friends Say," "Do I," "Country Man") has been announced as the opening act for Miranda Lambert's May 6 concert at the Adler Theatre in Davenport. Tickets are $39.75, $34.75 and $29.75, and go on sale March 19.

Lambert has a new single called "The House That Built Me" that concert promoter Brad Garrett predicts as the "career song" for the performer. I talked to Mullen and Garrett recently for a story about the popularity of country in the Q-C that will appear in print soon.

I'm looking forward to your story about the popularity of country music in the Q-C.

I'm somewhat surprised that promoter Brad Garrett predicts that Miranda's new single will be the "career song" for Miranda. Her "White Liar" was recently her first No. 1. Her "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" was popular too. What does it take for a song to be a "career song"?

Luke Bryan's "Do I?" was written by Charles Kelley and Dave Heywood of Lady Antebellum. Lady A has certainly come on strong!
