"Numerous studies over the last three decades consistently demonstrate that children raised by gay or lesbian parents
exhibit the same level of emotional, cognitive, social, and sexual functioning as children raised by heterosexual
parents. This research indicates that optimal development for children is based not on the sexual orientation of the
parents, but on stable attachments to committed and nurturing adults. The research also shows that children who
have two parents, regardless of the parents’ sexual orientations, do better than children with only one parent."
Id like to also add that a common line i hear used in this topic is that, the best unit of family is for raising a child is a man and woman, and that is used in the argument for why gay people shouldn't be allowed to adopt. Id like to point out what it not only says above, but that single parents are allowed to adopt without that stipulation applied to them, because obviously a single parent can't be the ideal "Man and woman". Whats it called when you put one set of rules on one person and a different set of rules on another?

It's so hard for kids growing up these days, this seems like it would make it even harder for them. Being teased and tormented by other kids would be unbearable for those already traunatized by being in the system....."[/quote]
I was never teased about my parents in school, granted they are a straight couple, but still i never heard anyone get teased because of their parents. I remember being ridiculed for being gay however. Ridiculed to the point where it not only affected my grades and attendance, but my very well being in some situations, but then again no one cared about that lol.
Would you rather have a kid in an orphanage for 18 years, or go to a family who will love and take care of him, at the risk that some kids will tease him cause he had two daddies?
Kids get teased all the time about all different things, and while i dont think its right, honorable, or healthy, it happens. However of all the insults that ive heard me and my friends endure, no one ever mentioned my mom and dad, and there were many things they did that were worth mentioning.
Maybe if more parents didn't teach there kids that gay couples deserve to be teased, singled out, and treated differently than straight couples, this wouldn't be a concern.
Do you think african americans shouldn't be able to adopt because some kids at school might tease him because his parents are a different race? or do you think that maybe the parents shouldn't be teaching the kid to single out african american parents cause they are different?

how can he say that? It says he got the idea from a musician at a resort... i wonder how that musician got his start?
'Bogus' bands the target of Iowa legislator

January 27, 2010 these "bogus bands" are called "cover bands" , im completely blown away by this hahaha. So if i play beatles songs per request at a piano bar will i get in trouble? Im not trying to be paul, but he wrote some really good songs! This is absolutely ridiculous! Has he even been to any open mic nights or shows? He should go to 11th st precinct on an open mic night, and tell them about his thoughts on this. I would love the oppurtunity to play original music for people, but typically people want to hear songs they know. I saw a great Janis Joplin band at Bent River once. How can this type of thing not impose on freedom of speech?

January 27, 2010 i grew up on Tremont, (on the top of the hill) so im very familiar with that area. I used to ride my bike to eagles and such. Im glad nobody was hurt with the sawed off shotgun, and im glad they caught the guy. Its scary how close that is to several schools, theres that elementary school on the corner of brady and locust, then JB young and central, i know it was at night, but still, its kinda scary. Good job DPD you undoubtedly made the streets a little safer and saved some lives.

January 27, 2010 Climate change? *slaps danny glover*
thats ridiculous , alot of geoligists are actually saying they knew the stress was building up and warned Haiti 2 years ago of a massive earthquake. Mind you im not blaming this on Haiti, but obviously an earthquake has nothing to do with climate change, unless for some reason there was such a drastic change it caused soooo much water in the ground to freeze and expand that it was on a tectonic level, which might even be impossible, considering A) the temperatures aren't freezing in the caribbean, and B) water would pry freeze upward and not outward being as its less dense than the earth. It was built up stress from the caribbean plate and the north american plate pushing together and ultimatly rupturing after 200+ years of building stress. Imagine how it will be when the midwest fault finally snaps again:

Maybe God will let Pat know so he can warn all of the straight mysogynist southern babtists to move to a safe place, that way there wont be so much collateral damage during the gay/abortionist/feminist/islam divine genocide. *rolls eyes*
Robertson relies on satanic sources
|
January 27, 2010 What bothers me the most about Mr. Robertson, is his claims to be prophetic and that god tells him things and predicts disasters (none of which have come to pass), and that he still convinces people to send him money, because he says what they want to hear. He manipulates people and uses their faith to do it. He told people that prayer could deflect hurricanes, and then when it doesn't he tells people it was because of the abortionists? The 9/11 attacks as gods collective punishments for pagans, homosexuals, and feminists, its ludicrous! maybe he is mentally ill? and im not trying to be funny, i mean seriously, maybe he needs some medication.
"im not sure who's fooling who here, as im watching your decay, we both know you could deflate a 7 hurricane, you could have spared her oh but no , messiahs need people dying in their names, you say 'i ordered you a pancake' " ~Tori Amos

January 26, 2010 Its your opinion Mrs. Six, and i can respect that. In my opinion Conan is quite funny, and far from a loser. I dont think Jay is a loser either, i typically watch Jay when i like the musical guest performing, but i would watch conan regardless of the guests. Conan used to have a hand in writing in "The Simpsons" do you think they are not funny either? They are in like the 20something season.
