Each stone in the 150-year-old cemetery tells a story, from the faithful dog guarding the resting place of the Dimick children, who passed on the same day in 1878, to the grand memorials of Rock Island’s founding families. Chippiannock is well known for the variety and quality of its highly artistic – and symbolic – monuments. The cemetery’s landscape design and spectacular art and architecture earned the cemetery National Register status in May of 1994.

Stephanie, thanks for the plug! Three other suggestions: Find your library on Facebook/Twitter. Both Rock Island and Davenport maintain pages that we post to frequently. It's a quick way to find out what's going on. Sign up for free e-mail newsletters - I send one out twice a month for Rock Island. And finally, look into our teen advisory boards. These groups encourage teens to get involved in creating programming and choosing materials they want. Dear Bill, Godspeed, and good luck. You have the backing and combined good wishes of many Quad Citians behind you in your fight, and I'm sure Peter is pulling a few strings on your behalf upstairs. You're in my thoughts. Lisa Lockheart
