Jenniwren, I am the reporter who wrote the story about Jodi Hughes. On the form that was filled out nominating her for the Unsinkable Spirit Fund, the anonymous nominator stated that lightning struck the apartment and caused the fire in Jodi's unit. Jodi confirmed that everything on the nomination form was correct when I interviewed her at her apartment. She went on to tell me that the lightning bolt came through the window. One of our photographers was present for that interview and confirms what Jodi said. She also stated that her first priority was to get her son out of the apartment. I called Jodi on Monday to inquire about the candle after I learned from authorities that a candle, not lightning, was the official cause of the fire. Jodi insisted that lightning did cause the fire. We ran a correction, which included her insistence that lightning was still the cause of the fire, in the next day's paper.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation only grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses...usually terminal. That does not apply to Tucker. I should have put that in my story!
